Owner + Creative Director
LEED AP, NCIDQ #28749
I love design! It is both my hobby and my passion. Every day I am motivated to go to work because for me, it is not work. After obtaining my Bachelor of Science in Interior Architecture from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, achieving the NCIDQ certification (National Council for Interior Design Qualification), and spending fifteen years at a large architectural design firm in Charlotte, NC, I started ALUKA Design + Co. with the goal of bringing the unique needs and desires of our clients to life through innovative, detailed and functional design and space planning solutions.
“Aluka” is a Zulu word, chosen for the company name to represent my South African roots. It means “to weave” which reflects our design process of weaving the client’s desires and budgets with creative solutions from years of experience to create a work of art that the client can experience in a meaningful way.
We are a full-service commercial interior design firm with nearly twenty years of experience. We focus primarily on projects in North and South Carolina but have served clients across the nation and as far as Canada. We provide top class interior design for a wide variety of clients, for new construction and renovations, with projects ranging from small office upfits to 60,000 square foot buildings. We are intricately involved in all phases of design from the initial hand sketches and conceptual design, to design development, construction drawings, coordination with architects and engineers, and through construction oversight and final softgoods installation. Regardless of the project size, location, or budget, every project offers a unique design challenge to bring our client’s needs and desires to life through innovative and creative design. We look forward with excitement to each new opportunity!
